Job summary

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in exercise science or related field with 2,000 hours of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field with 4,000 hours of related experience.
• Associate degree in related field with 8,000 hours of related experience.
• Current Heartsaver CPR certification.
• Pre-employment post-offer physical exam required.
• Maintain accreditation or relevant certification if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses related to physical fitness and lifelong wellness.
• Prepare and deliver lectures, develop course content and assess learning.
• Provide academic guidance and class modifications for all skill levels.
• Instruct high-quality health and human performance classes as scheduled.
• Ensure safety and proper use of equipment; address emergencies promptly.
• Demonstrate strong communication, leadership and organizational skills.

Job description

Based on course content, wages will range from $1,297.00 per credit to $3,753.00 per credit.

In certain instances, due to low enrollment, faculty payment will be based on part-time per credit pay and pro-rated on a 10% per student basis.

Part-time employees also receive some benefits depending on the number of hours worked.

Job Description

The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach.

This exercise professional will be teaching courses related to physical fitness. This position involves teaching group fitness classes and developing fitness programs for lifelong wellness. Some of the duties in this position include but are not limited to, preparing and delivering lectures, developing course content, assessing student learning, and providing academic guidance.

• This position requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate morning, daytime, and evening classes.

Job Duties

• This exercise professional assumes responsibility for teaching all aspects of the assigned physical fitness classes listed: Health and Wellness, Fitness Concepts, Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Anatomical Kinesiology, Intro to Exercise and Health Sciences, Certified Personal Trainer Prep.
• Instruct high-quality health and human performance classes to Aims Community College students and staff as scheduled.
• Embrace and apply the College’s purpose, vision, mission, and commitment to diversity. Clearly explain and demonstrate exercises and equipment.
• Provide modifications tailored to various skill levels.
• Supervise and assist class participants in utilizing equipment.
• Instruct participants on safe equipment usage and intervene in unsafe actions. Address inquiries regarding class content.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills.
• Display effective leadership and organizational abilities.
• Prioritize the safety and well-being of all class participants.
• Promptly address risk management issues as they arise.
• Document all emergencies and injuries accurately and promptly.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field (exercise science, health and human performance, exercise physiology, etc.) plus 2,000 hours of related experience plus current Heartsaver CPR certification OR
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (exercise science, health and human performance, exercise physiology, etc.) plus 4,000 hours of related experience plus current Heartsaver CPR certification OR
• Associate degree in a related field (exercise science, health and human performance, exercise physiology, etc.) plus 8,000 hours of related experience plus current Heartsaver CPR certification OR
• A current relevant certification plus 10,000 hours or related experience plus current Heartsaver CPR certification.
• A pre-employment post-offer physical exam will be required of the selected candidate. Physical effort required, including but not limited to lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing and walking.
• Confident and knowledgeable about the course subject matter and technique.
• If applicable, maintain an accredited sport or activity-specific certification or license.

Faculty

Upon hire, must submit academic transcripts from an accredited institution. Applicants who have degrees from outside of the United States must request a credential evaluation of their transcript. National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (www.naces.org) or Association of International Credential Evaluators (www.aice-eval.org) lists members who may be contacted for assistance in evaluating foreign credentials.

All required documents need to be submitted on every application. There is no way for Aims to attach these documents in the process. However, upon hire current Aims Community College Faculty are not required to submit transcripts if official transcripts are already on file.

Screening/Selection

Initial screening will be conducted by a committee based on completed application materials.

Employees in these positions may be asked to participate in temporary assignments lasting less than 6 months (such as curriculum development, short term projects, meetings and substitute duties) which could amount to additional temporary pay.

Upon hire, all positions at Aims Community College require a criminal background check, and may require industry specific screenings such as an MVR, physical and/or drug screen.
