Job summary

South University is seeking a faculty member to instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of nursing course outcomes on campus. The role supports the university model of curricula and emphasizes student success, diversity, ethics, and professional development.

You will design instructional plans, deliver instruction, and use technology to enhance learning outcomes. This campus-based position requires a Master’s in Nursing and RN licensure, with 0–2 years of teaching experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Zero to two years’ experience in instruction or formalized education process.
  • Experience in Obstetrics required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of the course outcomesin the curriculum and proactively support all facets of thelearning environment. Provide education through learning-centeredinstruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolvingneeds of the marketplace. Encourage a culture of learning thatvalues mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning,diversity, and ethics, as well as personal and professionaldevelopment. Assure that the South University philosophy of qualityservice to students, development, growth, involvement, andrecognition of employees, and an environment conducive toinnovation, positive thinking, and expansion is considered incarrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.Participate in activities that promote the stature of the academicprograms, departments, and colleges and abide by the SouthUniversity Board of Trustees and administration\'s mandates.

(This is a campus-based position-not remote.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are representative of the essentialresponsibilities of this position. Additional duties may beassigned.

  1. Manage the educational process to ensure that every student isinvolved in a positive educational experience through the learning,teaching, and social environment.
  2. Perform faculty responsibilities as outlined in the faculty jobdescription in accordance with the provisions of Faculty Supplementto the South University Faculty/Staff Handbook.
  3. Provide course instruction that aligns with the SouthUniversity model of curricula and supports the South Universitystyle of system delivery.
  4. Design and deliver instruction through the development ofinstructional plans to meet course outcomes, the development ofactivities that support lesson objectives, and online courses,deliver the instruction as approved within each course shell.
  5. Effectively utilize technology in the classroom to support thestudent learning experience.
  6. Enable the achievement of pre-defined outcomes for studentachievement and evaluation of learning by providing instructionthat fosters proficiency and establishes student performancecriteria and evaluation.
  7. Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing aneducational environment conducive to learning and studentinvolvement and effectively planning and preparing for classes andstudent success.
  8. Promote student success by showing flexibility in style andwork schedule and exhibiting a passion for teaching and students,and engaging students in the learning process.
  9. Manage the educational environment by keeping accurate records,submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing academicand attendance policies consistent with the school, campus, oronline division.
  10. Relate professional/life/industry experience to learning bycontinuing professional/technical skills development, theintroduction of industry perspective into courses, and the activeawareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities.
  11. Participate in the faculty development process to enhanceknowledge, skills, and abilities in learner-centeredinstruction.
  12. Communicate consistently and effectively with supervisor(s),faculty, and other South University administrators.
  13. Contribute to a learning culture by participating in curriculumand system task forces, supporting local campus events such asorientation and graduation, and participating in various otherworkshops and meetings.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QULIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Master\'s degree in nursing required, terminal degree ispreferred.

Experience:

  • Zero to two years’ experience in instruction or formalizededucation process, preferably in a post-secondary or collegeinstitution.
  • Experience in Obstetrics required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including theability to build successful relationships with studentpopulations.
  • Outstanding conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.
  • Computer based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and reportwriting skills).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meetfrequently occurring deadlines.
  • Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverseschool/campus constituents.
  • Ability to develop and complete projects without continueddirect supervision
  • Ability to learn from students’ participation, demonstratesfair and consistent behavior in all matters, and shows compassionwithout being ineffectual
  • Ability to perform with legal and ethical boundaries.

License/Certifications:

  • Unencumbered RN nursing License.
