Strayer University seeks an experienced Adjunct Faculty member to teach an online undergraduate LPN class for the upcoming quarter, starting Q1 2027. Courses run 12 weeks, typically one evening per week from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

The role blends teaching with mentorship, supporting diverse learning styles and building a strong faculty-student community. Applicants must have an MSN, active RN license, and at least 2 years of nursing bedside experience; 2+ years in online teaching is preferred.

Qualifications

• MSN degree from an accredited institution.
• Active RN license with Washington DC license required upon hire.
• Minimum 2 years nursing bedside experience.
• Minimum 2 years teaching in a nursing online program preferred.
• Experience with online teaching technology and curricula.

Responsibilities

• Teach online courses from a pre-designed curriculum with high-quality instruction.
• Enhance curriculum with technology and videos.
• Utilize the online learning platform to enrich student learning.
• Be available to students via email, phone, text, and office hours for timely feedback.
• Establish high evaluation standards and adhere to university policies.

We are currently in search of a passionate professor for an online undergraduate level LPN specific class for the upcoming quarter, starting Q1 2027 . Our classes are on a 12-week quarter schedule and typically run one evening per week from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Teach courses as assigned from a pre-designed curriculum and utilize your professional expertise to provide high-quality instruction.
• Enhance the strength and effectiveness of the curriculum through the use of technology and videos.
• Utilize the online learning platform to enrich the student learning experience.
• Be available to students via email, phone, text, and office hours to ensure students receive quality feedback in a timely manner to support their academic success.
• Establish high standards and ensure students understand how they will be evaluated.
• Adhere to University policies and procedures.
• Attend faculty meetings and workshops or training as required.

Job Skills

• Effectively communicate with all levels of the University.
• Demonstrated knowledge of academic technology.
• Demonstrated knowledge of academic evaluation.
• Proficiency in oral presentation skills, planning, and organizing of course objectives.
• Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Work Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a nursing online program preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience at the bedside required.

Education

• All degrees must be conferred and from an accredited institution to be considered.
• Master of Science in Nursing required

Certificates, licenses, and registrations

• Active, unencumbered RN license.
• Will require an additional Washington DC license upon hire.

• No travel.
• Must be able to lift 1 lb.
• Mobility within the office includes movement from floor to floor.
• Access information using a computer.
• Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
• Effectively cope with stressful situations.
• Strong mental acuity.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

$2,300-$2,600 is the expected starting pay per online assignment for this position per quarter and $3,000 is the expected starting pay per on campus assignment for this position per quarter. If your location is near a campus, on campus teaching may be required. Current and future assignments are based on the additional factors outlined below.

Strayer University Adjunct Faculty are compensated based on the number and type of course(s) that are taught in a given quarter. Currently, compensation for courses ranges from $2,300 - $3,100.
