Ivy Tech Community College is seeking an adjunct faculty member in Information Technology Support to deliver IT coursework aligned with program standards. Qualified candidates typically hold a master’s degree in IT or related fields (or equivalent routes outlined by Ivy Tech) and will teach ITSP courses with compliance to FERPA and college

Qualifications

  • A qualified faculty member in Information Technology Support (ITSP) meets program standards via one of four routes.
  • Possesses a master’s degree or higher in information technology or related field with required coursework.
  • Possesses a bachelor’s degree with two or more of the listed qualifications (certifications, experience, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes per policy and course objectives.
  • Develops and maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students and colleagues professionally, adhering to college policies and FERPA.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms and labs.
  • Other duties as assigned within regulatory and professional standards.

Education

Master’s degree in information technology or related field
Master’s degree with 18 semester hours in IT beyond intro
Bachelor’s degree with two of: professional certification, two years in-field, teaching excellence, research/publication, additional coursework (CEUs)

Salary Range: $47.35 Per Contact Hour

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods. Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

  • Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Schedule:

Day or evening classes based on class schedule and enrollment

Requirements:

A qualified faculty member in Information Technology Support (ITSP) meets the program standard through one of four routes:

  1. Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in information technology or related field as appropriate to the program
  2. Possesses an earned related or out-of field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in information technology or related field as appropriate to the program
  3. Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
  • Professional certification (national, regional or state)
  • Two years of in-field professional employment
  • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
  • Documentation of research and publication in the field
  • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military
  1. Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in information technology or related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following:
  • Professional certification (national, regional or state) in the field
  • Two years of in-field professional employment
  • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
  • Documentation of research and publication in the field
  • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.

ITSP 135 Course Standard:

A qualified faculty member teaching ITSP 135 meets the Information Technology Support (ITSP) program standard (above) and holds a valid, non-expired CompTIA A+ certification or CompTIA Network+ certification.

ITSP 215 Course Standard:

A qualified faculty member teaching ITSP 215 meets the Information Technology Support (ITSP) program standard (above) and holds a valid, non-expired CompTIA Mobility+ certification, CWNP’s Certified Wireless Network Administration certification, CWNP’s Certified Wireless Network Professional certification, or is a current Cisco Academy Instructor with the Wireless course qualifications.
