Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking Adjunct Faculty to teach as-needed for 8- or 16-week contracts. You will create a learning environment aligned with syllabi and assess student progress, while delivering effective instruction.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, maintaining records, and engaging students to support learning outcomes within FERPA guidelines. This role emphasizes collaboration and respect for diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • Must meet faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the area of instruction.
  • Conduct all activities with respect for diversity of people, styles and views.
  • Qualified full-time faculty meets the education component via approved routes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Develop and maintain outlines, syllabi, lessons, assignments and tests.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students to promote learning and positive classroom experiences.
  • Comply with College policies and campus guidelines; communicate professionally.

Education

Earned baccalaureate or higher degree in technology/engineering or related field
Specialized certifications per Curriculum of Record (COR)
Two years related work experience
Five years related work experience
Three years related work experience (alternative route)

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis and can teach for 8 or 16 week contracts. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided. Pay: $45.45/contact hour.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.

Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.

A qualified full-time faculty member meets the education component of the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Applied Science discipline standard through one of three routes:

  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology; or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program’s discipline, and
  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
  • Two years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or
  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
  • Five years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or
  • Possesses an earned associate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program’s discipline, and
  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
  • Three years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR).

  • Transcripts and/or relevant certifications/licenses required at time of hire
