Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking adjunct faculty to deliver assigned classes, create engaging learning environments, and assess student progress in alignment with college policies and course objectives.

As a part-time position, you will leverage available technology, develop syllabi and materials, maintain records, and foster a positive student experience while upholding FERPA and campus guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in human services or MSW from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Professional certification or licensure in the field; or two years of post-master’s degree related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
  • Uses technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops and maintains syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students to support learning and a positive Ivy Tech experience.
  • Follows FERPA, safety procedures, and college guidelines.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with college policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

A qualified faculty member in human services meets all three of the following criteria:
  • Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in a human services field or MSW, and Completed academic preparation appropriate to the program
  • Has one of the following: Professional certification or licensure in the field; or Two years of directly postmaster degree related work experience.
Other Requirements:
  • Transcripts and/or relevant certifications/licenses required at time of hire
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background check
