Summary

Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course by course basis throughout an academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) within the Honors College.
  • Instruction delivered on‑campus during the day and/or evening as dictated by student demand and departmental needs.
  • Develop and manage the class syllabus to meet department and college standards.
  • Plan and create lectures, in‑class discussions, and assignments.
  • Assess grades based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
  • Assist or mentor students as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field, or a terminal degree in the field of study or closely related, to teach undergraduate or graduate courses respectively.
  • First‑time‑in‑college (FTIC) teaching experience with freshmen or transfer students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College or university teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with transformative learning practices, high‑impact practices, experiential learning, and honors education.
  • Experience with student transition support.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Prior relevant industry experience.
