Salary Range
  • $880 (Master’s) per credit hour
  • $1,000 (Ph.D/Doctorate) per credit hour

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Dean of the School of Humanities, Art & Design.

Position Summary

The responsibilities of this position comprise teaching undergraduate level courses in History or Political Science for a variety of programs such as Early College and Second Chance Pell. As an Adjunct faculty member, the post holder is expected to participate actively in curriculum development and assessment, advise students, perform all duties professionally and ethically, and support the policies and mission of the University.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach the required workload (100 or 200 level History or Political Science classes) credits per semester in the undergraduate programs on a per‑course basis.
  • Advise students.
  • Adhere to duties as described in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Remain current in the latest industry practices, standards, research, and technology.

Qualifications

Minimum Education – MA in History, Political Science, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Documented Excellence in Teaching – Minimum of two years of documented excellence teaching History, Political Science, or closely related fields.

Preferred Education – A Ph.D. from a regionally accredited institution in History is preferred.

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of successful teaching at secondary and post‑secondary level institutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability and desire to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Willing and able to travel to main and/or satellite campuses for instruction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), and other programs related to teaching, learning, advising, and assessment, to facilitate instruction for hybrid learning communities.
  • Ability to create and facilitate a meaningful learning environment and willingness to teach courses in a diverse educational setting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and resources.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
Physical Requirements

Light office and community work requiring minimal physical effort: intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, walking inclines. Must lift 20 pounds, walk campus with ease, possess excellent motor skills and finger dexterity, and communicate information clearly.

Other Requirements

Part‑time, exempt position. Depending on project cycles, schedule changes may occur. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights, weekends, and varying schedules. Observe all safety and health regulations, report unsafe acts or conditions in a timely manner, and perform any other duties assigned by the Dean of the School of Humanities, Art & Design.
