Job Title

Adjunct Faculty, Financial Analysis and Investment Management

Job Description

Instructors are responsible for all aspects of CFP education course delivery. The instructor will serve as a subject matter expert and student advocate while delivering exceptional classroom experiences to Kaplan students. Kaplan provides the educational content; the instructor is responsible for delivering it effectively. Our goal is to help students pass the CFP exam on the first attempt and become better financial planners.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Cover program and course learning outcomes using College for Financial Planning materials, ensuring instruction meets the appropriate level.
  2. Use effective pedagogical practices to create engaging learning experiences, fostering critical thinking, academic rigor, and curiosity.
  3. Stay current with trends, techniques, and technological advances relevant to the program and pedagogy.
  4. Create engaging educational experiences in College courses.
  5. Complete required College trainings, including annual updates for ongoing employment.
  6. Respect students and set expectations for respectful academic discourse.
  7. Maintain open communication with students, respond promptly, and provide constructive feedback. Refer students to appropriate departments for personal or program-related questions.
  8. Stay informed of course schedules, class changes, technological updates, and curriculum developments through regular communication with the College.
  9. Be mindful of interactions with students, avoiding conflicts of interest or situations that could appear as such.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by deans, chairs, or program coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications

A terminal degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline OR a master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline, AND at least five years of financial services industry experience, AND at least two of the following:

  • Certifications or licensure related to the discipline (e.g., CFP)
  • Publications, presentations, or other scholarly works related to the discipline
  • At least 200 hours of teaching contact hours with evidence of teaching excellence (evaluations, awards, or student letters)

Relevant areas of study include:

  • Financial planning process
  • Investments and wealth management
  • Insurance and risk management
  • Income tax planning
  • Retirement and employee benefits
  • Estate and legacy planning
  • Behavioral finance
  • Financial analysis
  • Portfolio management
  • Security analysis
  • Economic and quantitative analysis
  • Analysis of alternative investments/classes

Additional Requirements

  • Over one year of industry and higher education instruction experience
  • Exceptional skills with Microsoft Office, Google applications, Adobe, and learning management systems
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, high energy, diligent, able to meet deadlines, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

A terminal degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline, along with:

  • Certifications or licensure related to the discipline (e.g., CFP)
  • Industry and teaching experience
