Job description

Adjunct Faculty – Ethics/Philosophy

Join to apply for the Adjunct Faculty - Ethics/Philosophy role at Cleveland State Community College. We are looking for an experienced instructor to provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment. The role will involve teaching courses in various formats across multiple locations, including online, and managing administrative responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Planning and teaching classes as assigned, following course descriptions, syllabi and departmental guidelines.
  • Beginning and ending all classes on schedule and covering all relevant learning outcomes.
  • Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior, communicating with students weekly, and responding to student emails promptly.
  • Evaluating students through varied methods and communicating scores in a timely manner.
  • Using Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email.
  • Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.
  • Submitting requests for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher.
Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Philosophy, Humanities or Religious Studies from a regionally accredited institution or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of related qualifying fields. Three years teaching experience preferred. Experience with alternative instructional modes (hybrid, online, interactive, etc.) recommended.

Availability / Closing Date

Pay Rates
  • Master's degree: $550 per credit hour
  • Master's plus 30 semester hours (ABD): $575 per credit hour
  • Doctorate: $600 per credit hour
