Job summary

MCPHS School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics seeks an adjunct lab faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences for General Diagnostic Medical Sonography program labs in Worcester, MA. The candidate will teach in the DMS laboratories and cover abdominal, thyroid, breast, musculoskeletal and OB/GYN sonography.

Responsibilities include in-person lab instruction, open lab coverage, syllabus delivery, and student mentoring, with use of OB/GYN simulator and LMS for materials and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Must hold current ARDMS credentials in both Abdomen and OB/GYN.
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in General sonography.
• Teaching experience in a CAAHEP accredited program preferred.
• Commitment to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional education and student success
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with students, faculty, administration, alumni and external healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Deliver laboratory instruction in-person in the General Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Teach introductory scanning techniques in abdominal and gynecological imaging protocols.
• Provide feedback to students on protocols, quizzes and exams.
• Give instructions on the use of the OB/GYN simulator
• Work as a team with colleagues to instruct the students and manage the lab activities
• Proctor classes, quizzes, and exams.
• Open lab sessions: be present and available for instruction and assistancefor students who may drop in during open lab sessions
• Provide students with an approved syllabus including objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies, texts/readings, assignments, timelines and evaluation criteria.
• Provide engaging assignments that demonstrate real-world applications of concepts covered.
• Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and materials and to communicate with students.
• Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
• Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching in the DMS general’s scanning lab courses to undergraduate students. Subject matters may include abdominal, thyroid, breast, musculoskeletal and OB/GYN sonography.
