Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking adjunct faculty to teach physics courses (PHY I21, PHY I22, and/or PHY 201) in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. This role requires a Master's degree and teaching experience.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Teach PHY I21, PHY I22, and/or PHY 201 courses.
Schedule
  • PHY I21: June 1 – July 26, MW 8:00‑11:30 am and TR 8:00‑10:50 am.
  • PHY 122: June 1 – July 26, MW 6:00‑8:50 pm and TR 6:00‑9:30 pm.
  • PHY 201 Mechanics: May 18 – July 12, noon‑3:50 pm and W noon‑3:50 pm.
Pay
  • Starting Pay Rate: Per Adjunct Faculty Pay Scale (aligned with the collective bargaining agreement).
Qualifications
  • Education Requirements: Master’s degree in physics or an appropriate engineering discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate‑level coursework credits in physics and/or engineering, or master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate‑level physics credits.
  • Experience Requirements: Previous experience teaching algebra‑based courses at the college level; experience using microcomputer‑based labs and course‑management systems such as Blackboard preferred; teaching requirement may be fulfilled via supervised teaching program for graduate students.
