Job summary

Chaminade University of Honolulu is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach COM 101 with focus on public speaking and interpersonal communication. The role requires staying current in the discipline and participating in curriculum delivery, development and assessment. Office hours are expected to support student success.

The position is part-time, on-demand per semester with a salary of $880 to $1,000 per credit hour, subject to university policy and campus needs.

Qualifications

• Master’s or terminal degree in field of teaching or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
• College-level teaching experience is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canvas LMS, email and internet; familiarity with common office equipment.

III. Position Summary

The responsibilities of this position are comprised of teaching a basic "COM 101" class with focus on public speaking and interpersonal communication. The Adjunct Faculty are expected to remain current in the discipline and pedagogy. The Adjunct Faculty are also expected to participate actively in curriculum delivery, development, and assessment. The Adjunct Faculty will hold regular office hours in support of students.

V. Qualifications

• Required: Minimum Education/Experience: Master’s or terminal degree in field of teaching or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Preferred: College-level teaching experience is highly desirable.
• Skills: Computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point); learning management systems (e.g. Canvas); e-mail programs; and the internet. Has knowledge and experience in using common office equipment such as copiers and scanners.
