Job summary

Essex County College invites applications for Adjunct Faculty - Clinical Preceptor - Radiography. The Clinical Preceptor will guide Radiography students at the assigned clinical site, ensuring instruction aligns with program objectives and accreditation standards.

Qualified candidates will be radiographers with ARRT credentials, NJ licensure, and a minimum of two years full-time experience; a BS/BA is preferred. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Two years full-time radiography experience.
• ARRT radiography credential.
• NJ license required to practice radiography in New Jersey.
• AAS degree required; BA/BS desired.

Responsibilities

• Prepare room assignments aligned with clinical objectives for each semester.
• Monitor attendance, maintain records of attendance, competencies and evaluations.
• Evaluate student clinical competency during rotations and be available in the radiology department.
• Encourage critical thinking and self-evaluation; counsel and advise students as needed.
• Submit radiographic image evaluations and communicate progress to staff and College Coordinator.
• Ensure compliance with JRCERT and NJDEP policies and grading as per policy.

Functions and Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Clinical Preceptor is responsible for the clinical instruction of Essex County College Radiography students within the assigned clinical site.

Clinical Instructors must be approved by the JRCERT and NJDEP.

Please Note: Essex County College does not provide visa sponsorship of any kind. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.

Compensation: This position offers a competitive starting rate ranging from $1003 per credit hour.

Supervisory Role

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare room assignments consistent with each semester’s clinical objectives.
• Ensure that students follow the room assignment schedule and make adjustments as needed to meet contingencies.
• Monitor student clinical attendance and punctuality while maintaining student clinical records of attendance, competencies and evaluation.
• Be available in the radiology department and evaluate clinical competency during student rotations.
• Encourage student critical thinking, analysis, and self evaluation.
• Counsel and advise students as needed and provide documentation.
• Complete radiographic image evaluations as per the program’s set requirements per semester.
• Communicate with the radiography department staff regarding student progress when appropriate.
• Communicate with the College Clinical Coordinator regarding student problems and clinical progress.
• Attend Clinical Preceptor / Radiography department meetings at the College.
• Calculate and submit student semester grade as per the program’s grading policy.
• Ensure compliance with JRCERT and New Jersey Board policies regarding student competency process, including appropriate level of student supervision and protection of student privacy respecting on-site records.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities

• Shall be a radiographer with a minimum of two years full-time experience. AAS degree required, BA / BS degree desired.
• Shall be credentialed in radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed by the State of New Jersey.

Shall demonstrate proficiency in clinical instruction and student evaluation through experience and continuing education.
