Job Title: Adjunct Faculty - Anatomy & HistologyDepartment: Bio-Medical SciencesFLSA: Exempt Location: Philadelphia, PA POSITION SUMMARY The Department of Bio-Medical Sciences of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine is recruiting an individual who is dedicated to excellence in teaching and training the next generation of medical students. We seek an individual with multi-disciplinary expertise in Anatomy and Histology. This person will be expected to participate in teaching, service and scholarly activities in the School of Osteopathic Medicine. This is a non-benefits eligible position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following) Teaching duties will include: • Implementation of Anatomy and Histology content for an integrated curriculum being prepared for teaching in the preclinical years of the DO Program.• Collaboration with basic and clinical science educators and program directors to coordinate the horizontal and vertical integration of anatomy within organ/system-based courses.• Active contribution to student assessment for assigned lectures and presentations; contribute to development and implementation of effective remediation experiences for students when needed.• Mentoring and advising medical students in academic and curricular matters.• Participation in development and facilitation of the clinical presentation based curriculum as assigned.• Supporting technological platforms that link course content, activities and assessments.• Provision of instructions in anatomical sciences (gross anatomy, embryology, neuroanatomy and histology) presented in lab and didactic sessions within the clinical context of integrated organ systems-based curriculum.• Implementing cadaver prosection-based anatomy laboratory experiences for an integrated curriculum.• Establishing learning objectives and competency standards.• Contributing to the process of student assessment, developing, implementing, and evaluating assessment materials and procedures.• Promoting and using active learning techniques in the classroom.• Position may include administrative oversight of the student educational research project course, and/or responsibilities as Course Director.• Other duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education• MS, PhD, DO, or MD degree in the Anatomical Sciences with prior teaching experience in gross anatomy and histology is preferred. Minimum Requirements• Ability to develop and deliver presentations. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills to communicate and interact effectively with colleagues, faculty, students, and visitors.• Ability to supervise, advise, training and assess peers and students; including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling assignments.• Commitment to diversity and inclusion as part of our conviction that the presence of diversity enriches an institution of higher learning.• Ability to handle sensitive situations and information with discretion.• Demonstrated skill in working independently and completing assignments according to defined goals and objectives.• Ability to effectively prioritize and deliver assignments under pressure of deadlines, and with frequent interruptions and competing priorities.
