Job summary

WSU Tech in Wichita invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty Instructor in Aviation Maintenance. The role involves delivering courses, following established lesson plans, and maintaining timely course start and end dates while upholding professional ethics.

You will supervise students in classrooms and labs, communicate course requirements and assessment methods, and contribute to curriculum updates to meet program objectives and current industry practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of full-time aviation maintenance experience.
  • FAA A&P Certificate required.
  • Preferred: associate degree or higher.
  • Experience with FAA/FAR Part 147 requirements is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise students in classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
  • Develops, revises, and/or recommends curriculum changes which meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning.
  • Ensures that each program/class meets the WSU Tech Course Standard, includes all appropriate curricular components, utilizes effective teaching methods/practices and reflects current field practices.
  • Teaches and maintains an effective learning environment regardless of instructional modality.

Overview / Job Summary

The Adjunct Faculty Instructor provides subject matter expertise. Additional responsibility to teach courses, adhering to lesson plans, meeting course objectives, beginning and ending courses on time as scheduled and adhering to academic faculty ethical and professional behaviors.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
  • Manages and supervises students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment
  • Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements
  • Develops, revises, and/or recommends curriculum changes which meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning
  • Ensures that each program/class meets the WSU Tech Course Standard, includes all appropriate curricular components, utilizes effective teaching methods/practices (pedagogy) and reflects current field practices
  • Teaches and maintains an effective learning environment regardless of instructional modality
Requirements
Education
  • Associate Degree or higher, preferred
Preferred Experience & Skills
  • A minimum of 3 year's full time (or full time equivalent) current progressive work experience in aviation maintenance required
  • Qualifications required for mandatory program accreditation
    • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate, required
  • Extensive experience with the following preferred:
    • FAA/FAR Part 147 requirements
    • General Aviation Maintenance
  • Previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred, with pre-planning course work
