Job summary

Ivy Tech Bloomington Campus is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach Advance Automation & Robotics courses for the upcoming semester. Adjuncts can teach up to 13 hours per week across 8-week courses, with day and evening sections available.

This role requires delivering instruction under college policies and common syllabi, and maintaining student records and assessments. Qualified candidates may meet requirements via an associate degree plus five years of related experience, a journeyman

Qualifications

  • adjunct faculty must meet college course standards and FERPA requirements
  • minimum is an associate degree plus 5 years experience, or journeyman status with COR competencies
  • or possess specialized certifications and 5 years directly related work experience linked to COR competencies
  • optionally hold a Workplace Specialist license or Technology Education license relevant to course objectives

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
  • Develop/revise course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments and materials; maintain accurate records.
  • Engage with students and employ active teaching strategies to enhance learning.
  • Interact professionally with students and colleagues and comply with campus policies.

Education

Associates degree + 5 years experience
Journeyman’s card in related discipline
Specialized certifications for class per COR
CTE: Tech Ed/Manufacturing license per Indiana DOE

Ivy Tech Bloomington Campus is searching for part-time adjunct faculty to teach Advance Automation & Robotics courses for this upcoming semester. Adjunct faculty can teach up to 13 hours per week. Courses are 8 weeks long. We have day and evening courses available.

Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. School of Technology Course Standard A qualified adjunct faculty member meets the technical course standard through one of four routes:

Option 1:

  • minimum is associates degree + 5 years experience; or

Option 2:

Possesses a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card in the discipline directly related to credentials, certifications, and

  • competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and in journeyman status for two years or more with experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR)
  • And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or

Option 3:

  • Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR)
  • And, 5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or

Option 4:

  • Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License, Technology Education License (Technology and Engineering Education, Engineering and Technology Education), or CTE: Trade & Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR)
  • And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR).
