Qualifications

• DO or MD degree with AOA or ABMS board certification or board eligibility in designated clinical field, or terminal degree in a related or academically appropriate area from an accredited institution with demonstrated experience in teaching.
• Unrestricted certification/licensure to teach/practice in the State of Tennessee; if DO or MD, must have ability to obtain an active and unrestricted medical license in the state where clinical activities occur

• Facilitates creation of a learning environment that encourages critical thinking, investigation, self-direction and respect for individuals.
• Coordinates and delivers courses as assigned.
• Evaluates student-learning outcomes for expected course and program competencies.
• Participates in classroom and/or clinical instruction.
• Communicates policies and goals to students, faculty, staff, and clinical affiliates as appropriate.
• Communicates course learning outcomes to clinical affiliates.
• Stays current with trends and practices in the profession.
• Engages in activities to remain current with advances in knowledge base, teaching and learning strategies, professional practice, trends, issues, and curricular resources.
• Assists in assessment of Program Learning Outcomes as needed.

Summary

Participate in teaching, scholarly activities, and service in the College of Osteopathic Medicine with a goal of producing competent and holistic physicians. Participate in and/or direct multidisciplinary curricular courses and formative and summative assessment of learners including clinical courses during the third and fourth year of the osteopathic medical curriculum.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

DO or MD degree with AOA or ABMS board certification or board eligibility in designated clinical field, or terminal degree in a related or academically appropriate area from an accredited institution with demonstrated experience in teaching.

Demonstrates basic currency with trends, issues, and practices in the profession or discipline.
