Adjunct, Biology (Part-time)

SaintJoseph’s University Department of Biology seeks highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester. Part‑time adjuncts may instruct one or two courses on an “as needed” basis during the day or evening.

Course Offerings

• Bio160: Heredity and Evolution – introductory course in DNA, genetics, and evolutionary principles.
• Bio161: The Human Organism – elementary course in human anatomy, physiology, and genetics.
• Bio165: Exploring the Living World – lecture/laboratory covering cell biology, heredity, biodiversity, ecology, human evolution, and physiology.
• Bio260-261 / BIO175-185: Anatomy and Physiology for Nursing and Allied Health I & II.
• BIO101L, 102L, 201L: Laboratory sections for introductory core courses in Cell Biology, Genetics, and Organismic Biology.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and guidance to students.
• Instruct assigned courses, providing syllabi and instructional materials.
• Use university learning management systems to deliver instruction.
• Develop and deliver instructional materials (lectures, lab activities, assessments).
• Hold regular office hours to support students.
• Create, administer, and grade assignments, quizzes, lab reports, and exams.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Biology or closely related field required (Ph.D. preferred).
• Prior college‑level teaching experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
