ADJUNCT FACULTY – AUTOMOTIVE

KENNEDY KING COLLEGE

Kennedy King College is currently seeking a part-time faculty to teach automotive technology. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Facilitate courses by delivering engaging lectures and guiding classroom discussions.
  • Counsel students on academic progress, and course-related questions.
  • Prepare clear, organized lectures and instructional materials.
  • Grade assignments, exams, and projects promptly with constructive feedback.
  • Participate in committees and activities that contribute to the college community and its goals.
  • Demonstrate strong content expertise in the discipline, ensuring accurate and up-to-date instruction.
  • Apply innovative pedagogy that engages students through active learning and real-world connections.
  • Embrace a cooperative approach, collaborating effectively with colleagues and department members.
  • Show a deep commitment to student mentoring, providing guidance and support for academic and career success.
  • Align with and actively support the mission of the college, fostering equity, inclusion, and student achievement.
  • Employ a variety of teaching methods to meet students’ varying learning needs, abilities, and interests and to optimize student outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate of Applied Science in Auto Technology and 3-4 years of work experience in the field.
  • Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required with the ability to communicate persuasively with tact and diplomacy.
  • The ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment.
  • Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
  • Knowledge of Brightspace or similar Learning Management System preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

The starting salary for this position is $800.00 - $943.00 per contact hour. The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
