Job summary

Truman College invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor in Automotive Technology (Part-Time). The successful candidate will teach Automotive Technology courses, develop engaging instructional materials, and support students with diverse needs through effective teaching strategies.

Requirements include current ASE certification, a Bachelor’s degree (preferred), and experience with modern vehicles, diagnostics, and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • ASE certification current; master certification path encouraged for future teaching.
  • Three years automotive service experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with modern automobiles, testing equipment and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching and use of new technologies to engage diverse students.
  • Maintain office hours for advising, mentoring and coaching students.
  • Develop and revise courses and instructional materials as needed.
  • Post syllabi and grades on Brightspace.

ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR - AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY (PART-TIME) TRUMAN COLLEGE

Truman College is currently seeking a part-time faculty to teachAutomotive Technology courses. If you have passion for teaching andlearning, and are committed to the mission of the communitycollege, consider joining our team. The ideal candidate will havedemonstrated success in the classroom by developing and usingeffective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs andengage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • You must demonstrate excellence in teaching, commitment tointegrating new technologies in the learning process and theability to inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed.
  • Maintain office hours for advising, mentoring and coachingstudents
  • Development and revision of courses and instructional materialsas necessary.
  • Post syllabi and grades on Brightspace.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current certification from the National Institute forAutomotive Service Excellence (ASE).
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Current ASE certifications in A6, G1 and certificate inteaching area, preferably A1, A2, A3, A4 or A5.
  • Applicant should also consider obtaining ASE MasterCertification status in the future for the option of teaching moreclasses.
  • Three (3) years minimum automotive service experience.Exceptional communication skills.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of modern automobiles, currenttesting equipment and diagnostic strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • The salary range for this position is $800.00 - $943.00 percontact hour. The rate paid is in accordance with City Collegesapproved salary scale.
