Job summary

Kilgore College seeks a part-time faculty member for the Automotive Technology program to teach and support program operations. The instructor will work with leadership and staff to enhance instructional effectiveness and align with the college's mission.

The role requires automotive industry experience, ASE certification or ability to obtain within 6 months, and a degree in Automotive Technology. Teaching in various formats (afternoon/evening, dual credit, web, hybrid) may be required.

Qualifications

• ASE Certification required, or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive repair industry.
• Associate's degree in Automotive Technology.
• Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level preferred with ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse learners.
• Proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in specific areas and evaluate their learning progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and update curriculum materials, instructional resources, and assessment tools to meet industry standards and objectives.
• Design and implement hands-on training activities in laboratory and shop settings to reinforce theory and develop practical skills.
• Interpret college policies for students positively.
• Maintain syllabi and professional conduct; stay current with industry trends and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in departmental meetings and professional development for program improvement.
• Teach in afternoons/evenings, dual credit classes, web or hybrid/remote formats as needed.

Job description

Position Details:

This is a part-time faculty position has the primary responsibility of teaching in the Automotive Technology program. The instructor also assists the instructional leader and other administrative personnel in activities designed to enhance the effectiveness of the instructional process and to support the mission of the College. Additional expectations, policies, and guidance for faculty performance of their duties are available in the Kilgore College Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual and the Faculty Handbook.

Responsibilities:

• Instruct students in specific areas and evaluate their learning progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and update curriculum materials, instructional resources, and assessment tools to meet industry standards and educational objectives
• Design and implement hands-on training activities in laboratory and shop settings to reinforce theoretical concepts and develop students' practical skills
• Interpret college policies for students in a positive manner.
• Maintain, and follow syllabi for courses.
• Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements in Automotive Technology to ensure program relevance and effectiveness
• Participate in departmental meetings, and professional development activities to contribute to program improvement and faculty development
• Perform other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the community college mission and purpose
• Expectations for this position may include the following: teach in afternoons and/or evenings (non-peak times); teach dual credit classes in high schools; teach web classes; teach hybrid or remote classes; and use instructional technology in the classroom.

All faculty are required to complete online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center upon employment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• ASE Certification required, or the ability to obtain certification within 6-months
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive repair industry
• Associate's degree in Automotive Technology
• Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level preferred, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and engage diverse learners
• Proficiency in using instructional technology and learning management systems to support teaching and learning activities
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment
• Be able to deal professionally and courteously with a diverse student and employee population

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior classroom and lab work environment.
• No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• limited exposure to physical risk.

Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:

• Salary for adjunct faculty members is based upon level of education and range from $1,900 per 3-hour course for a master's degree to $2,100per 3-hour course for a doctorate.

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment.
