Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

This position teaches in-person courses within the Athletic Training/Sports Medicine Studies Degree Program to a diverse student population. Courses taught normally are on the main Dowagiac Campus, some may be at the Niles Campus. Instructors are responsible for promoting an effective learning environment for students and successfully achieving learning outcomes for assigned courses. This posting is for in-person classes only, no online courses are available for this degree program.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or related field from an accredited institution
• Current Board of Certification ( BOC ) credential or eligibility, if applicable
• Two years of professional experience in athletic training or sports medicine
• One year teaching experience in higher education
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, clinical sites, and healthcare professionals

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or Sports Medicine
• Three years professional experience in athletic training or sports medicine
• Three years teaching experience in higher education

Other Information

  • A. Balancing. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.

  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
