Job summary

Johnson County Community College is seeking qualified applicants for part-time teaching assignments in the Communication Studies Department beginning spring 2027. Instructors are needed for teaching on-campus, face-to-face classes. The current need is for morning and early afternoon classes.

Online course assignments are not available for this position. Classes may include Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, Personal Communication and Workplace Skills.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Communication Studies, Communication, Speech, or Speech Communication is required.
  • Computer literacy including ability to communicate, develop teaching materials and enter grades electronically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students, colleagues, staff, supervisors and community.
  • Demonstrated strong teaching ability.
  • One or more years of college teaching experience in the Communication Studies discipline.

Position: Adjunct Assistant Professor - Communication Studies

Department: Academic Affairs

Type of Position: Adjunct Faculty

Exemption Status: Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs.

Opportunity for hybrid schedule: No

Starting Salary Range: AJCR $1,262-$1,404 per credit hour and in accordance with the adjunct table and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.
