Job summary

Alvernia University is seeking an Assistant Coach to support its intercollegiate athletics program in reading, PA. The role requires promoting NCAA Division III guidelines and Franciscan values while assisting in recruiting and development of student-athletes.

The assistant coach must be able to stand in for the head coach when needed, stay current with NCAA and MAC regulations, and participate in mandatory meetings and training sessions as part of the athletics staff.

Qualifications

• Prior coaching and/or playing experience (preferably collegiate).
• Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules.

Responsibilities

• Directs and organizes all aspects and responsibilities of an assistant coach.
• Assist in recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
• Represent duties of head coach in their absence.
• Maintain understanding of University, NCAA and MAC rules and report violations.
• Pass the NCAA Division III Recruiting Test.
• Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the University's mission.
• Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.
• Contribute to overall success of the athletics program by performing duties as assigned by Head Coach or Director of Athletics.

Job description

• In compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations of Alvernia University, the NCAA, and the MAC, directs and organizes all aspects and job responsibilities of an assistant coach as indicated in the Alvernia University Coaches Manual.
• Responsible for assisting the University's intercollegiate athletics program and establishing policies and procedures that achieve the parallel goals of development of quality, competitive athletics teams and support of the individual educational goals of student-athletes.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
• Represent and/or carry out the duties of the head coach in his/her absence.
• Maintain an active understanding of all University, NCAA and MAC rules and regulations and report any possible violation immediately to the Director of Athletics.
• Pass the NCAA Division III Recruiting Test.
• Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University.

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend all mandatory meetings, training sessions, etc.
• Contribute to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics
