About the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design

The creative heart of Drexel University, the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design trains the next generation of scholars, thinkers, makers, and doers in the fields of media, entertainment, design, and the visual and performing arts. Westphal offers 18 undergraduate and nine graduate majors, housed in award‑winning facilities that encourage collaboration across creative disciplines. At Westphal, we reimagine the role of design, media, and the arts in building a better future. Our programs challenge students to center sustainability, access, and equity in their approaches to art, fashion, architecture, gaming, entertainment, and scholarship. Through experiential learning, studio‑based curriculum, and Drexel's widely‑recognized Cooperative Education program (co‑op), our students are uniquely positioned to face the world's challenges and define the creative careers of the 21st century.

About the Architecture Program

The Department of Architecture, Design & Urbanism seeks applicants to teach in various capacities as adjunct faculty member in the Drexel University's Architecture Program. The mission of the Drexel Architecture Program is to pursue architecture as a professional discipline by combining the rigors of the academy with the realities of contemporary architectural practice. We offer a strong, broadly based curriculum in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and the applied sciences, coupled with professional courses taught by faculty who reflect the broad diversity of architectural practice today.

Drexel's unique work/study program is an experiential‑based learning model that complements and provides an alternative to traditional studio‑based programs. The Drexel model provides a practical, high‑quality education to those students who seek early exposure to daily architectural practice as well as an affordable alternative to students who could not otherwise be able to enter the profession.

The Architecture Program offers a non‑accredited Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies degree as well as two paths to a NAAB‑accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree within a work‑study educational model:

  • A seven‑year, part‑time evening option serves a large population of non‑traditional students drawn from throughout the greater Philadelphia region.
  • The unique 2 + 4 Option caters to recent high‑school graduates who follow two years of full‑time study with four years of part‑time study in the evening.

Students in both options gain professional working experience in architectural firms while attending classes in the evening.
