Job summary

Frederick Community College seeks an Adjunct faculty member in Accounting to teach courses as needed, develop and present materials, and assess student progress in alignment with program outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s with 18 graduate hours in Accounting or a CPA-licensed Bachelor's, with related professional experience. Familiarity with Blackboard or PeopleSoft is a plus.

  • Related professional experience or appropriate professional licensure in content area or closely related field.
  • Experience teaching college accounting courses.
  • Familiarity with Blackboard LMS and/or PeopleSoft ERP software.
  • Active participation in professional accounting organizations.
  • At least two years of full‑time professional experience in the accounting or finance field.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student mastery of learning outcomes using relevant scholarly and professional tools in the discipline.
  • Actively engage students in critical thinking, meta-cognitive processes, and essential communication skills.
  • Infuse multicultural and diverse perspectives into instruction and respect differences.
  • Model open‑minded inquiry and creative problem‑solving.
  • Maintain currency in academic discipline and pedagogy.
  • Deliver instruction, assess and report student learning, and communicate with students per FCC requirements.
  • Use FCC email for College business.

Education

Adjunct, Accounting

Position Summary

Adjunct faculty teach courses as assigned based on disciplinary needs, educational background, and experience. Adjunct faculty develop and/or present course materials as requested by their supervisor and evaluate student progress in adherence with the core learning outcomes of assigned courses. Adjunct faculty are expected to adhere to College requirements, work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community, and use varying teaching styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student mastery of learning outcomes using the most relevant scholarly and professional tools and practices available in the discipline.
  • Actively engage students in critical thinking, meta-cognitive processes, and advancement of essential communication skills.
  • Infuse multicultural and diverse perspectives into the instructional process as appropriate and conduct classes in a manner that demonstrates respect for individual and cultural differences.
  • Model and cultivate open‑minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem‑solving.
  • Maintain currency in academic discipline and pedagogy.
  • Complete all assigned institutional and professional training.
  • Deliver instruction, assess and report student learning, assign grades, and regularly communicate with students in adherence with FCC requirements.
  • Adhere to instructional timelines and guidelines and utilize college instructional technology.
  • Use only an FCC email account when conducting College business.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree with eighteen (18) graduate hours in Accounting or related discipline; or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Related professional experience or appropriate professional licensure in content area or closely related field.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience teaching college accounting courses.
  • Familiarity with the Blackboard LMS and/or PeopleSoft ERP software.
  • Active participation in professional accounting organizations.
  • At least two years of full‑time professional experience in the accounting or finance field.
