Job description

Position Summary: North Greenville University is receiving applications for adjunct faculty positions in the College of Education’s online program. Successful candidates will have excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to integrate biblical faith in the teaching discipline.

Online adjuncts must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia.

North Greenville University is a teaching university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention and is a tobacco and alcohol-free campus. All NGU professors are expected to be orthodox Christians who have a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, are role models in their piety and ethics, maintain active membership in an evangelical congregation, and mentor students academically and spiritually. They are Christian scholars who reflect upon their discipline from the perspective of a biblical worldview and are expected to teach in accordance with and not contrary to the university’s Statement on Human Flourishing.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ELED/ECED Math courses offered by the College of Education’s online program as assigned.
  • Effectively organize and present subject matter to students.
  • Effectively utilize the university’s learning management system.
  • Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy and security.
  • Meet all university deadlines for syllabi and grade submission.
  • In a timely and professional manner, communicate with, and respond to communications from students, the director, associate dean, dean, the Office of Academic Records, and other relevant staff offices.
  • Model genuine Christian faith in and beyond the classroom.
  • Intentionally and explicitly integrate the Christian faith with teaching.

Physical Requirements

  • Visual Abilities: Read reports, create presentations and use a computer system.
  • Hearing: Hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, vendors, and students.
  • Dexterity: Grasping, Feeling, Write, type and use the telephone, copier, and computer systems.
  • Speaking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, professionally, and with a contextually appropriate tone and volume.
  • Cognitive/Emotional: Ability to critically think and express emotions and thoughts in an honest, collegial, constructive, and prudent manner.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Adjunct instructors and professors in the College of Education report to the Director, who reports to an Associate Dean, who reports to the Dean of the College of Education.

  • A minimum of a master’s degree is required in one of the functional areas taught in the College of Education’s online program. A doctorate in one of these functional areas is preferred.
  • Previous university teaching experience is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • The ability to integrate biblical faith in the teaching discipline.
  • Must support NGU’s mission statement, core values, and commitment to a Christian lifestyle.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and solve problems with frequent interruptions
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Blackboard and Canvas
  • Understand and comply with FERPA regulations
  • Supports NGU’s mission statement and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with biblical model
