Summary/Objective: Under supervision, assists in gathering and assessing evidence to decide or recommend decisions on claims or appeals concerning government programs or other government-related matters and prepares decisions.

High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience in interpreting and applying laws regarding program eligibility.
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the required education and experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Professional experience working with disability, medical or insurance claims adjudication or investigation, health care, unemployment, workers compensation, social services, or related field. Bilingual/fluent in speaking, reading and writing a foreign language, especially Spanish Supervisory Responsibility: None required for this position.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. The position may involve managing a high-volume workload and demands a high level of accuracy while working with deadlines. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
