Job summary

RTX (Raytheon) in East Hartford, CT, is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer II to tackle complex problems enabling new aerospace and defense products. Responsibilities include advancing AM processes, supporting IRAD/CRAD programs, and coordinating with design, materials, and operations teams.

The role requires a university engineering degree or equivalent, plus hands-on AM experience and CAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• University engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years scripting experience (Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript or similar).
• 2+ years CAD tools experience.
• 2+ years hands-on AM equipment operation or mechatronic design experience.
• Understanding of AM processes including laser powder bed fusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide process expertise and IQ/OQ/MQ tools to accelerate additive manufacturing adoption across RTX units.
• Explore advanced measurement tools to characterize inputs and melt pool responses and reduce variability.
• Lead root cause investigations on build failures or process issues and implement corrective actions.
• Curate Process-Structure-Property data into materials databases.
• Lead IRAD proposals and execute awarded programs for RTX business units.
• Support CRAD programs with government, industry, and academic partners.
• Execute and oversee development builds on various AM machines.
• Collaborate with materials, design, simulation, operations, and characterization teams to improve value streams.
