Job summary

RTX is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer II to advance AM capabilities for aerospace and defense programs. You will solve complex problems, support process development, and drive data-driven improvements across design, materials, and manufacturing teams.

The role requires hands-on lab work, scripting, and CAD proficiency, with a path toward leading IRAD/CRAD initiatives and development builds on diverse AM equipment.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Engineering Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced Degree in a related field.
• Min 2 years scripting experience with Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript or similar.
• Min 2 years experience with CAD tools.
• Min 2 years hands-on experience operating manufacturing equipment OR designing mechatronic systems.
• Working understanding of AM processes including laser powder bed fusion.

Responsibilities

• Support RTX Business Units by providing process expertise and IQ/OQ/MQ tools and best practices to increase the rate of additive adoption.
• Explore advanced measurement tools to quantify and reduce variability in inputs and melt pool/material responses.
• Support root cause investigations on build failures and implement corrective actions.
• Curate Process-Structure-Property data into databases.
• Lead proposals for IRAD programs and execute awarded projects.
• Support CRAD programs involving government, industry, and RTX partners.
• Execute and oversee development builds on a wide variety of Additive Manufacturing machines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the full value stream.
