Job summary

RTX AMPCC in East Hartford seeks an Additive Manufacturing Operations Lead to manage a skilled team, drive near‑term industrialization plans, and support development builds on advanced AM machines. You will implement RCCA actions, create rigorous standard work, and ensure quality and safety across projects.

The Additive Manufacturing Process and Capability Center (AMPCC) encompasses a critical mass of Additive Manufacturing (AM) process and industrialization experts, the necessary equipment, and develops the strategic collaborations needed to rapidly mature the technology and manufacturing readiness of AM. The AMPCC is focused on the research, development and deployment of additive manufacturing tools and processes for our business units. The Additive Manufacturing Operations Lead will be responsible for one or more of the following activities as they relate to the AMPCC, including:

What You Will Do
  • Manage a team to execute tasks and ensure smooth functioning of the AMPCC while growing the team’s skill sets and operational capabilities
  • Develop plans for near term industrialization of AM and expansion of capabilities
  • Execute and support development builds on various AM machines
  • Drive RCCA activities, capture lessons learned, and implement corrective actions with documentation
  • Support Proposal development activities for new projects, processes, and equipment
  • Oversee scheduling of projects and align resources to meet milestones on time and budget
  • Implement and enforce RTX CORE principles in AMPCC areas including process improvement and 5S
  • Drive rigorous standard work documents, tools, and policies to maintain quality and consistency
  • Manage EHS and Facilities activities to ensure AMPCC readiness, improve operational efficiencies, and ensure compliance with all required policies
  • Operate advanced measurement devices in support of AM machine characterization activities
  • Engage with suppliers and machine OEMs on various projects, RCCAs, and development opportunities
  • Support the development of PO language creation for FAT/SAT, maintenance documentation, service agreements, and other acquisition related requirements
  • Support the development and implementation of a production‑relevant QMS for AM
  • Drive machine OEM compliance to technical requirements of PO language for new equipment
Qualifications You Must Have

The preferred candidate should have a strong understanding of engineering principles and hands‑on experience working with additive equipment. Candidate must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation and delivery and have demonstrated both verbal and written communication skills including: Typically requires an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum of 5 years of relevant experience Hands‑on experience operating and maintaining advanced manufacturing equipment Prior experience directly managing a team while collaboratively interfacing with multiple related functions Minimum 1 year experience with quality management systems and standards such as AS and ISO Minimum 1 year experience basic troubleshooting of electromechanical systems and controls Minimum 1 year experience using MS Project, MES, ERP or similar tools Must be available on‑call to support high‑priority business needs

Qualifications We Prefer

We Prefer MS in Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical field with a minimum 5 years of industrial experience. Prior experience leading a team and interfacing with multiple support functions Hands‑on experience operating and maintaining laser powder bed fusion AM equipment Highly visible, pro‑active approach to leading and supporting an advanced technology development team with a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement Strong planning, problem solving, organizational, and project management skills applied to a highly dynamic project mix with competing priorities Six Sigma green belt, RTX CORE Professional, or equivalent

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
