Addictions Counselor
At Stony Brook Medicine, ourAddictions Counselors are experienced in applying client Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) techniques within the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) will enable CPEP to more successfully identify potential substance use problems among patients.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, knowledge and understanding of patient care and effectively respond to changing patient needs by making decisions based on ethical principles and adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Required: Credentialed as an alcoholism and substance abuse counselor (CASAC) within NYSor a Master’s in Social work. At least one year or more experience in Alcohol Substance Abuse Counseling.
Preferred: Previous experience in a medical setting.
