Job summary

Straight and Narrow, headquartered in Paterson, NJ, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its addiction treatment team. The RN provides triage, assesses and plans care, delegates tasks, and supports withdrawal management within Residential/Outpatient facilities and community programs.

Shifts available: 3:00pm–11:00pm and 11:00pm–7:00am on a temp-to-perm basis. Regular salary range is $40–$50 per hour.

Qualifications

• RN must have current and valid registration as a professional nurse in New Jersey.
• Experience in addiction, mental health or corrections is desired.
• Team player with a caring and compassionate attitude toward patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Conduct triage evaluations of medical and psychiatric status under Medical Director supervision.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate delivery of care.
• Delegate patient care to other health care team members.
• Use COWS for opioid withdrawal and CIWA for alcohol to assess withdrawal, document observations.
• Dispense medications per physician orders and maintain accurate records.
• Monitor labs and report abnormal/critical results to provider.
• Prepare and maintain medical records and participate in client intakes as needed.
• Maintain and inventory emergency equipment and supplies.
• Provide nursing education and wellness groups to clients.
• Complete and review shift counts for controlled substances with staff; comply with policies.
• Attend staff development in-service sessions and participate in quality improvement projects.
• Maintain nursing license and CPR/First Aid certification.
