Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist to advance ADAS analytics with vision-language models, LLM-based event classification, and semantic retrieval across driving scenarios.

You will deploy models in production using PySpark, Delta Lake, and FastAPI on Azure, collaborating with engineers and management to produce fleet-level narratives and KPI dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in a quantitative field; advanced degree beneficial but not required.
• 3+ years of professional experience in data science or applied ML.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; production ML experience preferred.
• Experience with foundation models, embeddings, or LLM/VLM applications is a plus.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly to engineers and management.

Responsibilities

• Apply vision-language models to multimodal data to create event representations.
• Build LLM classification and reasoning pipelines for event summaries.
• Design embedding pipelines and semantic retrieval for large-scale scenarios.
• Develop model-based ranking and active-learning loops with engineer feedback.
• Deploy models into PySpark/Delta Lake pipelines and FastAPI APIs.
