Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Adaptive Swim Instructor to join our Aquatics team. The role involves working closely with children and adults with diverse physical, cognitive, and sensory needs, providing adaptive swim instruction in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. The instructor will collaborate with aquatics staff and may guide junior instructors or volunteers.

About You

You are patient, empathetic, and passionate about making swimming accessible to everyone. You will tailor lessons to meet individual needs, helping participants gain confidence, improve water safety, and reach personal milestones. You work well independently and as part of a team, communicating effectively with caregivers and team members to ensure consistent support.

What You’ll Do

1. Plan and lead adaptive swimming lessons
2. Adapt teaching methods to various abilities and learning styles
3. Ensure participant safety and follow emergency procedures
4. Communicate progress and goals with parents or caregivers
5. Collaborate with staff and support program delivery
6. Mentor assistant instructors or volunteers
7. Maintain a clean, organized, and inclusive environment

Minimum Requirements

• At least 2 years of swim instruction experience, including 1 year in adaptive swimming with individuals with special needs
• Comfort working with individuals with disabilities
• Strong communication skills and a calm, supportive demeanor
• Current CPR/AED and Lifeguard certifications or ability to obtain before start
