Responsibilities

  • Assists the IEP team in designing an IEP for students with exceptional needs.
  • Provides direct instruction and services for pupils with written IEPs; monitors IEPs and communicates with parents and the IEP team.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides learning toward curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives for lessons and projects.
  • Employs varied instructional techniques and media suited to students’ needs and location.
  • Strives to implement district educational goals and objectives.
  • Assesses student progress and seeks district specialists as needed.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies and maintains classroom order.
  • Makes yourself available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
  • Completes Special Education paperwork, including IEPs and Medicaid billing.
