Qualifications

• Must hold Kansas licensure in Special Education.
• Design and implement IEPs with the IEP team.
• Provide direct instructional services to students with exceptional needs.
• Maintain classroom environment and communicate with parents.

Responsibilities

• Assists IEP team in designing an IEP for students with exceptional needs.
• Provides direct instruction and services as identified in the IEP; monitor and contact parents and IEP team about changes.
• Creates a conducive learning environment.
• Encourages students to set classroom behavior standards.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and media per location and student needs.
• Seeks to implement district education goals through actions.
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly; consults district specialists as required.
• Helps administration implement policies and classroom rules; maintains order.
• Makes self available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
• Maintains professional competence; attends staff meetings and committees.
• Completes Special Education paperwork, including IEPs and Medicaid billing.
