Job summary

Wasatch Adaptive Sports seeks an Adaptive Snowsports Instructor to lead high-quality lessons for participants with disabilities at Snowbird/Sundance. You will teach adaptive skiing, sit skiing, and ski biking, tailoring techniques to each student and collaborating with a mission-driven team.

You will develop lesson plans, attend training clinics, and uphold safety protocols. The role emphasizes accessibility, inclusion, and ongoing personal skill development within a supportive nonprofit

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old and able to obtain certification.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certified or willing to obtain upon hire.
• Ski and/or snowboard at an advanced level with teaching experience.
• 1–3 years of experience teaching recreation skills, preferably to people with disabilities.
• Ability to perform outdoor work in variable weather and maintain attention to detail.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach skiing, snowboarding, sit skiing and/or ski biking to participants with disabilities.
• Adapt equipment and techniques to varying abilities through training.
• Attend in-house clinics and ongoing professional training to improve instruction.
• Prepare a strong pre-lesson plan and conduct on-snow assessments.
• Follow risk management protocols to ensure safety for students and staff.
• Track student goals and progress; adjust lessons to meet objectives.
• Communicate respectfully to foster a positive program culture.

SUMMARY Under the direction of the Program Manager, Adaptive Snowsports Instructors lead high-quality, professional lessons to participants with disabilities in adaptive alpine skiing, sit skiing, snowboarding, and ski biking. Snowsports programs are held primarily at Snowbird and Sundance Resorts. Other winter programs include snowshoeing, indoor cycling, and yoga. You will join a team committed to creating access and belonging in the local community. The team creates access and belonging through their passion for skiing, biking, snowboarding, paddling, and more. WHAT YOU’LL DO* Teach skiing, snowboarding, sit skiing and/or ski biking program lessons according to WAS teaching progressions.* Learn to adapt all equipment to varying abilities through training and lessons.* Develop a strong teaching ability by regularly attending in-house clinics and other professional training.* Establish a strong pre-lesson plan and on-snow assessment.* Adhere to all risk management protocols to ensure the safety of all students and instructors.* Track and evaluate student goals and progressions.* Communicate respectfully and think critically to promote a positive program culture.
