Xcimer Energy in Denver, CO is seeking an Adaptive Optics Engineer/Scientist to design, model, and implement high-performance adaptive optics for next-generation laser technology. You will develop wave-optics simulation tools, create control algorithms, and support integration of adaptive optics hardware on high-energy laser platforms to improve beam quality and stability.

Qualifications

• Education: B.S. degree in optical science/engineering, or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of optical science/engineering experience directly related to adaptive optics systems.
• Experience with multi-disciplinary engineering including optical, opto-mechanical, software, and controls.

Responsibilities

• Develop new optimization routines for the adaptive optics loop.
• Collaborate with vendors to develop the next generation of AO platforms with deformable mirrors and wavefront sensors.
• Assist in aligning, calibrating, and running adaptive optics hardware on a laser system.
• Assist in characterizing the optical environment to set AO requirements.
• Leverage and improve wave-optics propagation code to model the laser systems.
