Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County seeks an Adaptive Gymnastics Coach to promote inclusive participation in programs and lead a supportive, welcoming environment for children with diverse needs. The role emphasizes safety, individualized attention, and positive role-model coaching while delivering engaging activities and parent communication.

You will plan age-appropriate lessons, facilitate academic enrichment, supervise participants, and collaborate with staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
3+ years' experience working with children with special needs; 1+ year advanced experience for ages 0-12.

Responsibilities

Ensure safety and well-being of participants.
Help facilitate inclusion of participants into a gymnastics class.
Work individually with a participant with special needs.
Provide continual supervision and serve as a leader and positive role model.
Facilitate activities, academic enrichment, games, crafts and other program activities.
Create an age-appropriate learning environment that fosters creativity and individuality.
Communicate with parents regarding participant progress and behaviors.
Prepare creative and fun lesson plans and session outlines prior to each class.
Encourage positive social skills and appropriate behavior.
Show enthusiasm, leadership, fairness, and fun through coaching style.
