A community-focused non-profit organization in Oconomowoc, WI is seeking a part-time Adaptive Aquatics Instructor to provide tailored swimming instruction for individuals with disabilities. Qualifications

  • Certifications that must be obtained and maintained within first 90 days: CPR, AED , First Aid , Child Abuse Prevention, Blood borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication.
  • Willingness to attend meetings, training, and obtain additional certification as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Provide adaptive swimming instruction to individuals with disabilities.
  • Ensure safety and nurture during classes.
  • Attend training and meetings as required.

Join Our Adaptive Aquatics Team!

Are you passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities and love swimming? We're looking for dedicated team members to help make a difference through our adaptive aquatics program! You'll work one-on-one with swimmers of all ages and abilities—helping them gain confidence in the water, build endurance, and refine their strokes.

SCHEDULE
  • Sessions take place year-round on Wednesday evenings from 4:00–6:45 PM
  • Additional Opportunities: Extra hours may be available through our Special Olympics Swim Team or by teaching adaptive private lessons.
POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Provide individualized adaptive swimming instruction to participants with disabilities in a safe and nurturing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities, preferred.
  • Ability to instruct water safety and swimming skills to others, making modifications based on abilities of each participant.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading classes, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting in and out of water.
