Job summary

TriStar Summit Medical Center in Nashville, TN, is seeking an Acute Trauma Surgical Nurse Manager to lead daily operations of the trauma unit and guide nursing staff toward exceptional patient outcomes.

You will oversee staffing, enforce clinical standards, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize care delivery while maintaining a patient-centered culture. A BSN is required, MSN preferred, and TN RN licensure is necessary.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in TN or a compact state.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.
• BCLS certification or Instructor certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead unit operations to deliver high-quality, patient-centered trauma care.
• Oversee staffing, interviewing, hiring, and training of new staff for the unit.
• Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and quality outcomes.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department staff.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Acute Care Nurse Manager ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

What you will do in this role:

• Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
• Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
• Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list.
• Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
• Manage and coordinate all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
• Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.

What qualifications you will need:

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required.
• Bachelors Degree in Nursing required; Masters Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (CLS) or BCLS Instructor required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• 2 years of related clinical experience required.
• Prior clinical leadership experience preferred.
