Qualifications

• Effective communication both verbally and in writing with NIHD staff and the public.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with NIHD staff at all levels.
• Demonstrate a high degree of maturity, integrity and good judgement.
• Basic computer knowledge for hospital systems and records.
• Strong English reading and writing skills.
• Ability to demonstrate communication, people skills, judgment and decision making.

Responsibilities

• Performs essential functions listed on the department CNA/Department Clerk Skills Checklist according to patient population.
• Assists in making all necessary preparations for a patient's hospitalization.
• Assists RN with patient care.
• Prepares chart for patient information not in the electronic record.
• Answers call lights promptly and notifies proper staff.
• Assists with cleaning and restocking of rooms as needed.
• Answers the unit phone with proper etiquette and directs calls as appropriate.
• Uses unit copy/fax machines while following HIPAA policies.
• Uses hospital information system/EHR effectively.
• Maintains and updates shift work cards.
• Completes NIHD mandatory competency.
• Attends NIHD in-services and/or programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
