Job summary

Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, KY, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant (Acute, PRN) to perform basic laboratory duties including phlebotomy, specimen collection, and waived testing.

The Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for ordering, processing, and distributing specimens, reviewing outstanding lab results, assisting with storage and retrieval, and ensuring Turn Around Times are met; it also maintains inventory and provides clerical support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1-3 years of previous experience in phlebotomy preferred.
• Phlebotomy Certification Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy duties.
• Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
• Maintains adequate stock of supplies.
• Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
• Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing.
• Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
