Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking an Acute Care Speech-Language Pathologist on a per diem basis. The role involves diagnostic and rehabilitative services across acute care populations, with collaboration on an interprofessional team and supervision of students/fellows.

Ideal candidates will have an accredited SLP program graduate, NC state licensure, and at least one year of relevant experience or completion of a clinical fellowship.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
• Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
• One year of relevant experience or completion of a one-year clinical fellowship; acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes results of diagnostic tests to set patient goals and adjust treatment plans.
• Applies current techniques to provide speech/language/swallow rehabilitation services.
• Provides counseling to patients and families and communicates through team meetings.
• Supervises graduate students and fellows and educates health professionals in specialty area.
• Develops or contributes to programs to enhance patient care and serves as a resource to other clinicians.
• Maintains records of patient procedures, progress and recommendations.
• Provides clinical speech-language pathology services—assessment and planning.
