Job summary

NYU Langone Health seeks a Staff Speech Pathologist for a temporary part-time role in Acute Care - Adult. You will provide speech-language pathology services under supervision and contribute to patient care within the rehabilitation department.

The role requires an MA/MS in Speech-Language Pathology, NYS licensure, ASHA CCC-SLP, and BLS/CPR certification, with continuing education to maintain licensure. A TSSLD certification is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• MA/MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• CCC-SLP (ASHA) credential required.
• New York State license in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• BLS or CPR/AED certification required at entry to position.
• Continuing education required by NYS for licensure maintenance.
• Preferred NYS TSSLD certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Develops, implements, amends, evaluates and plans speech-language pathology treatment programs based on patient goals and evaluation results; justifies treatment plans and reassesses as needed.
• Conducts group and individual therapy sessions; orients caregivers; maintains a supportive environment for expression of feelings.
• Documents treatments and attendance; maintains confidentiality; follows Medicare documentation guidelines; provides clear verbal and written reports to keep the team informed.
• Interprets assessment findings to patient and family; discusses recovery course and access to SLP services; involves caregivers in planning for termination when appropriate.
• Assesses communication function, screens for SLP needs, and assigns FIM/WFIM ratings; conducts SLP evaluations and discusses recommendations with supervisory staff.
