Job summary

MedStar Health seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care across patient populations. You will perform and monitor all respiratory therapies, manage ventilators (invasive and non-invasive), conduct spirometry, blood gas analyses, and related procedures while adhering to established standards and physician orders.

Responsibilities include documenting patient needs, reviewing orders, participating in CPR and airway management, and contributing to department efficiency

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in respiratory care (AAS or higher) required.
• Bachelor's degree in related healthcare field preferred.
• RCP license in Maryland/DC required/maintained.
• CRT NBRC certification required; RRT preferred when possible.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to achievement of department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards.
• Assesses physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural dimensions and educational needs of patients.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and services using ventilators, oxygen, humidity, monitoring, and related equipment.
• Communicates with patients using therapeutic interviewing and problem-solving skills.
• Reviews electronic medical records and physician orders each shift.
• Responds to CPR, maintains airway, provides oxygen and ventilation as needed.
• Promotes workflow efficiency and interdepartmental coordination.
