Job summary

WakeMed Health & Hospitals is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to work in the Acute Care setting. You will evaluate patients, develop personalized treatment plans, and lead interventions to restore independence during hospitalization.

The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians, nurses, and therapists, plus education for patients and families. A licensed OT with 2+ years of clinical experience is preferred, with opportunity to support across the Rehabilitation continuum.

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist required.
• Bachelor's Degree Occupational Therapy required - or Master's Degree Occupational Therapy required.
• 2 Years Clinical - Occupational Therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans with meaningful, functional goals.
• Provide occupational therapy interventions to help patients improve daily activities.
• Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, activity programs, and recovery strategies.
• Design and fit orthotic devices when appropriate and train patients in their use.
• Recommend adaptive equipment to enhance safety and independence.
• Monitor patient progress, document treatment outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed.
• Deliver age-appropriate, patient-centered care in accordance with department standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
• Support patient care needs across WakeMed Rehabilitation continuum when required.
