Job summary

WakeMed is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist for the Acute Care setting. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to create personalized treatment plans that promote independence and recovery during hospitalization.

Responsibilities include evaluating patients, designing therapy plans, educating families, fitting orthotics, and recommending adaptive equipment to maximize safety and function.

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist required.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• 2 years clinical experience in occupational therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans with meaningful, functional goals.
• Provide occupational therapy interventions to improve daily activities.
• Educate patients and families on exercises, programs, and recovery strategies.
• Design and fit orthotic devices and train patients in use.
• Recommend adaptive equipment to enhance safety and independence.
• Monitor progress, document outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed.
• Deliver age-appropriate, patient-centered care per department standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other staff to ensure care quality.
• Support care across WakeMed Rehabilitation continuum when required.

What You'll Do

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans with meaningful, functional goals.
• Provide occupational therapy interventions that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities.
• Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, activity programs, and strategies to support recovery.
• Design and fit orthotic devices when appropriate and train patients in their use.
• Recommend and educate patients on adaptive equipment to enhance safety and independence.
• Monitor patient progress, document treatment outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed.
• Deliver age-appropriate, patient-centered care in accordance with department standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
• Support patient care needs across various areas of the WakeMed Rehabilitation continuum when required.
